The best account planning software depends on your CRM. On Salesforce, start with its free native Account Plans, then Altify or Prolifiq Crush for more depth. For full key account management, DemandFarm and Kapta are the specialists. On HubSpot with a smaller team, write plans in Notion and show them on the HubSpot record with NoteLinker.

The 7 Best Account Planning Tools, Reviewed
1. Salesforce Account Plans: best if you are already on Salesforce
Salesforce now ships Account Plans as a native Sales Cloud feature. Each plan is its own record with SWOT sections, objectives with measurable targets, and an optional relationship map, and recent releases let objectives pull data across account hierarchies. Partners report it is included at no extra cost on Enterprise edition and above. It needs switching on in Setup and a permission set before users see it. Start here before you buy anything else.
2. Altify: best for enterprise strategic account planning
Now part of Upland Software, Altify is 100 percent Salesforce native and runs inside your org. It is sold as modules, including Account Manager, Opportunity Manager and relationship maps, with built-in sales methodology. Listing sites show modules from about $20 per user per month, while a competitor estimates real quotes at $75 to $125 per user per month once modules and services are added. You also need your own Salesforce licences.
3. Prolifiq Crush: best for relationship mapping on Salesforce
A native Salesforce app for key account management that lets teams run account plans like projects and track influencer relationships. Reviewers like exporting plans to PDF or PowerPoint for account reviews. Listed at about $49 per user per month, with a $19 relationship-mapping tier and a $79 complete suite.
4. DemandFarm: best dedicated key account management platform
Org charts, whitespace analysis and structured account plans, built for teams running formal key account programs. It is the specialist in this list with the clearest HubSpot story: its Kampanion app is on the HubSpot Marketplace, and DemandFarm says it syncs contacts, companies, deals and activities both ways. Pricing is by quote; one 2024 buyer document showed $75 per user per month for full users.
5. Kapta: best for renewal and expansion planning
Built for named-account teams running formal account plans, with voice-of-customer capture and plan accountability. It integrates with Salesforce, and lists HubSpot too, though one review describes the HubSpot integration as partial, so confirm the depth in a demo. Listing sites show a start of about $49 per user per month; buyers report entry points nearer $1,000 a month.
6. Planhat: best if account plans belong with customer success
A customer platform rather than a pure planning tool: health scores, lifecycle and revenue data, with account plans alongside. Its HubSpot integration syncs companies, contacts, deals, tickets and custom objects both ways. It is priced per customer account rather than per seat, and one analysis of 35 purchases puts the median at about $41,000 a year.
7. Notion + NoteLinker: best lightweight option for HubSpot teams
Write each account plan in a Notion database, with goals, stakeholders, whitespace and next steps, and NoteLinker shows it live on the matching HubSpot contact and deal records. No plan object to configure, no per-seat licence, and the plan stays editable where your team already writes. $19 a month flat for the whole HubSpot account, or $16 billed yearly, with a 14-day trial and no credit card.
On HubSpot? Put your account plans where reps already look
NoteLinker shows your Notion account plans on HubSpot contact and deal records, live and formatted. $19 a month for the whole account.
Which Account Planning Software Fits Your Team?
Included in the edition you already pay for. Add Altify or Prolifiq Crush only if you outgrow it.
The specialists for whitespace, org charts and plan governance across a portfolio of strategic accounts. Budget for per-user, quote-based pricing.
A full customer platform with deep HubSpot sync, priced for mid-market and up.
The plan stays a living document in Notion and shows up on the HubSpot record where the deal moves. Flat $19 a month.
What Account Planning Software Should Do
Whichever tool you pick, a useful account plan covers the same ground. Use this as your checklist in demos.
Must-haves in account planning software
- Goals and objectives for the account, with a measure you can check next quarter.
- A stakeholder or relationship map: who decides, who influences, and who is a risk.
- Whitespace: the products, teams or regions you have not sold to yet.
- Risks and blockers, with an owner for each.
- Next steps tied to real deals in the CRM, not a separate list nobody updates.
- Visibility where the team works. A plan nobody opens is not a plan.
The last item is where most account planning programs fail. The plan gets written for a quarterly review, lives in a slide deck or a separate tool, and is out of date by the next call. Whatever you choose, make sure the plan shows up on the CRM record your reps already open every day.
Account Planning on HubSpot
This is the gap in most lists of account planning software: nearly every dedicated tool was built for Salesforce first.
HubSpot has no account plan object. Its closest native feature is Target Accounts, on Sales Hub and Marketing Hub Professional, which lets you flag priority companies, set an ICP tier, and tag contacts with buying roles such as decision maker or influencer. That covers which accounts matter and who is involved. It does not give you a place to write the plan.
HubSpot teams fill that gap in one of three ways:
- 1
Add a planning app
DemandFarm's Kampanion is on the HubSpot Marketplace and syncs with HubSpot records. Planhat and Kapta also integrate. This is the right route for a formal key account program with dedicated account managers.
- 2
Use HubSpot properties and notes
Custom company properties for tier and goals, plus notes on the record. Free, but a plan spread across properties and timeline notes is hard to read as a whole and hard to keep current.
- 3
Write the plan in Notion, show it in HubSpot
Keep each plan as a Notion database row with a full page for goals, stakeholders and next steps, and use NoteLinker to show it on the matching HubSpot contact and deal records. You can start from our free account plan template.
Account Planning Software vs Key Account Management Software
The two terms are used almost interchangeably, but they are not quite the same job.
- Account planning software focuses on the plan for one account: goals, stakeholders, whitespace and actions.
- Key account management software adds the portfolio layer: health across all strategic accounts, governance, forecasting and reporting.
DemandFarm and Kapta cover both. Salesforce Account Plans, Altify and Prolifiq Crush lean toward the plan. Planhat leans toward account health. If you are weighing customer success platforms as well, our guide to account management software covers Gainsight, ChurnZero and Totango too.
Is Dedicated Account Planning Software Worth It?
For a team with dedicated account managers running a formal program across dozens of strategic accounts, usually yes. The structure, portfolio reporting and relationship maps pay for themselves when one expansion deal can be worth more than the licence.
For a smaller team, the honest answer is often no. If you have a handful of strategic accounts and the plans already live in documents, a new platform mostly adds another tool to keep updated. What those teams need is not more software but the plan in front of the rep, on the record they already use. That is a much cheaper problem to solve.
